Onward Yaaaar - How to become a pirate on a budget

A throw back to the beginning of the summer 2015, I bought a boat. One of the best decisions I've ever made! Being in Dorset we've got some seriously interesting water accessed attractions. Human wise there's Poole Harbour with Sandbanks, also Christchurch Harbour and Muddeford Spit & Hengistbury head. Then Naturally Old Harry's Rock, Ballard Down, Swanage and the rest of the Jurassic Coast (if your brae enough).

I went with a fully inflatable boat it had some age (15 years) but both boat and engine were quality brands (Zodiac and Mercury respectively) and easy to maintain (can easily be stored and the 2 stroke engines are simple). The boat is 12 foot with a high pressure inflatable floor and wooden transom and the engine 15hp (2 stroke).

I didn't quiet realise at the point of purchase what an amazing combination this was. The Acti-V fastroller and a 15hp mercury both are lightest in their class and this plains 3 up and pushes one person at speeds of 20 knots. This isn't only good for the grin element but also allowed me to explore the sea outside of the harbor. With all that power I wasn't in danger of being pulled out by an ebbing tide or pushed around by the big boy boats.

Another benefit I was unaware of was the hassle the launch wheels cut out. Most boats using the slipway are trailered boats, heavy and you've got the trailer to deal with. On a busy summer day you get stuck in the queue of boaters. With my boat I could roll up to the slipway float off the side lift up the wheels and you're away, NO QUEUING and no expensive trailer parking!
